A new scientific study has found that life after death really is possible. According to the study, some people could recall intricate detail despite being officially declared dead.

University of Southampton's researchers conducted the study, AWARE, which stated that about 40% of the patients who survived death (or underwent near death experience) at clinics had recalled awareness while they were clinically dead.

Study shows Evidence of Life after Death

Dr. Sam Parnia from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and University of Southampton's researchers spent about four years examining more than 2,060 people who have suffered cardiac arrest in 15 hospitals in Austria, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Parnia said that brain stops functioning when the heart does not beat. "But in this case, conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to three minutes into the period when the heart wasn't beating, even though the brain typically shuts down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has stopped", said Parnia.

Parnia and other researchers have studied the cases of 330 patients who survived cardiac arrest. According to the researchers, 140 of the patients have talked about their experience. Out of 140 patients, about 60% said that they didn't remember anything about that moment, while the rest of the patients did.

According to Parnia, one patient has described everything that happened in the clinic's room while he has receiving Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Pania said that the patient was able to notice everything even after his heart had stopped beating.
